There are the Mechs, which are on just about every promo blurb for the game. One of the reasons to play this game is the war machines (called “vehicles” in-game) that the player can use to demolish anything that the player can see into rubble and wreckage, and then flatten that rubble and wreckage too. With such a setting, there is so much potential for rich gameplay and storytelling. The mercenaries who take up the contracts are known as the titular “Brigadors”, and they have plenty of incentives to do the SNC’s dirty work. Most importantly, the SNC is back, and is shelling out mercenary contracts for what are practically very destructive wetwork in preparation for its return to power. The power vacuum left the NEP in disarray, and its enemies and unreliable partners are more than eager to exploit its weakness. Despite the NEP’s considerable security, the leader of the dictatorship, simply called “Great Leader”, has been somehow killed. The people of Solo Nobre exchanged their freedom and growth for stability and peace. Sometime after it rose to power, Solo Nobre was closed off to any outsiders, on pain of death by anti-orbital cannons. This is the Novo Exército do Povo (NEP), and it does not take kindly to foreigners. Now, it is ruled by a dictatorship that was spawned by the same uprising. It was typically awful, so the SNC was pushed out by an uprising. Previously, the city was the domain of the corporate conglomerate Solo Nobre Concern (SNC). The game takes place on the isolated world of Solo Novo, and in the city of Solo Nobre. Autocracies popped up to oppress clueless populations, ruthless mega-corporations are the only organizations that are actually well organized and the most elite of humanity have divorced themselves from the rest of the species and turned into indulgent space-faring nomadic raiders. Unfortunately, the distances between pockets of humanity meant that they could not keep each other in check. It is the distant sci-fi future, after humanity has taken to the stars. It has to be said first that the story and setting that have been made for this game is little more than an excuse for what the player would be doing. The game’s longevity is dependent on the ages-old feature of unlocking stuff with in-game money.

Almost everything else about the game can seem done-before, and would seem even more so after the player has had enough of its simplistic gameplay. Unfortunately, its very effective sprite-based graphics are the game’s main sell. Therefore, Stellar Jockeys developed a surprisingly versatile sprite-based system for the graphics of Brigador. One such example is Brigador.Īs an indie title, it has neither the budget nor chaps for high-definition detailed 3D models of mechs and other war machines, and its developer did not have the capital like Piranha Games did when it made MechWarrior Online. It is so appealing, that there have even been titles in the indie gaming scene about them. There is always something appealing about giant bipedal war machines in sci-fi works, despite how impractical that they can be if they were ever made in real life. Great games like Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition (-20%), Streets of Rage 4 (-30%), AMID EVIL (-45%), Dishonored: Complete Collection (-70%), and more have joined our Winter Sale today and you can find all of them here.By Gelugon_baat | Review Date: July 27, 2018
